Organizing my work space

I just spent the better part of my spare time this last week re-arranging and organizing my knitting/craft/sewing/office space. It's amazing how much better the room functions when things are moved around just a bit. I wish I would have taken photos of the before arrangement but I was afraid one of my readers would have sent them into the "Hoarders" show on tv... LOL!!! It was pretty bad. Not that it is just the way I want it to look. All my furniture is second hand and mismashed, and my totes and tubs don't all match etc... But, I think if I were to have the perfect Martha Stewart style craft room, I would be afraid to use anything for fear of disrupting the tiddiness of that style. I love the look of organization, but then it would drive me nuts if everything wasn't in it's proper place all the time. And people, I have three young boys who have little knowledge on what it means to put things back to where they go, or to not touch it in the first place!!!
This room is my retreat and I love coming in here to create. I now have a large table that faces out my window so I have a nice view of my backyard. A long counter with three cabinets with different hobbies sorted out into each, a great ironing station (tutorial here), a desk that has my inks, stamps, and 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock and my cutting and scoring tools and another table that has my go to things like distressing inks, scor-tape, paper piercing tool and templates, and all my punches are on the wall above that. Then over on a cubby shelf I have my Big shot and my growing collection of dies and embossing folders, older Stampin' Up! catalogs and misc business forms. My room is not clean and I don't ever expect it to be, I want a room that I feel comfortable in using and not worrying about getting glue or ink on something. Being creative is messy!!!
